Dr Keith Rowley said Monday Kamla Persad-Bissessar is "the luckiest opposition leader in the world".
The Diego Martin West MP was commenting on Persad-Bissessar's decision to file a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Patrick Manning.
"If a Government is behaving like this, you are inviting that....The minute she takes over the UNC all kinds of plums are falling in her lap," Rowley told the Trinidad Express, adding, "In the circumstances, the Government is inviting it."
Rowley said, "It is almost as if they are being goaded to bring the Government down." He told the paper no opposition party has had it so good in the 11 years he spent in opposition.
Rowley also dismissed statements from UDeCOTT board members that they have no reason to resign. Rowley and opposition MPs have called for the entire board of the corporation to resign following the departure of Calder Hart.
He said it is unbelievable that the board members are refusing to take responsibility and seem to believe that there are no consequences to their action.
Rowley insisted that he would continue to speak up about UDeCOTT and corruption because he does not want his party to be damaged "by the folly of self interests by a minority of individuals".
