Rowley constituency passes no confidence vote in Manning

The Diego Martin West constituency is turning the heat on PNM Leader Patrick Manning. On Monday night it passed a no confidence motion in Manning, citing the prime minister's handling of the Calder Hart/UDeCOTT.

This might suggest that the MP for the constituency, Dr Keith Rowley, could support a motion of no confidence in the prime minister that will go before the House of Representatives on Friday.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar got the Speaker's approval for the motion on Tuesday.

The Diego Martin motion was moved by the executive at the constituency’s monthly executive meeting and was passed unanimously
by a show of hands.

The Diego Martin executive intends to refer the motion to PNM General Secretary Martin Joseph and to ask the party's General Council to call for a special convention to discuss the issue. Manning is a member of the council.

The Diego Martin issue also comes on the heels of a call by Arima MP Pennelope Beckles for women to unite and support Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives becomes the second PNM MP to openly speak out against the PNM leader.

Beckles said Persad-Bissessar’s victory is not only a triumph for East Indian women but all women and the Siparia MP must be seen as an example for all young women to emulate.

“I am quite certain she can do the job. My expectations are high for her but we as women, if you want to walk the walk, then you need to give your support,” she said.

Former Public Services Association (PSA) President Jennifer Baptiste-Primus has also endorsed Persad-Bissessar.

Fear: the most powerful emotion

All designed to prevent the presence of two Indian leaders on the scene.

I don't understand how the Deputy Speaker can be seen as speaking out against the PM, I'm sorry but I don't get this from the article. Could someone help me please. I got that she says that we should support Kamla, that's it, nothing else, maybe I missed it.
