EBC Chief Election Officer Howard Cayenne went on national television Sunday night to appeal to the public to help in the process.
He said, "The campaign has become necessary because of the failure of large numbers of registered electors to inform the commission of changes in residence."
He reminded citizens that electoral laws require voters to cast ballots in the area where they live. He added that it is a person's responsibility to ensure that the EBC has the correct information.
Cayenne said there is a lot of movement in the country because of the government's and private sector's housing drive and that makes it even more important for people to inform the EBC of their current residence.
"While I congratulate those who have benefited from the housing initiatives, I want to appeal to you to visit the EBC offices to register your new addresses," Cayenne said.
If you wish to get more information on the Change of Address drive you can send the EBC an email at ebc.pepru@gmail.com.
You can also telephone the Public Education and Public Relations Unit (PEPRU) at (868) 625-5924.
