Ramesh willing to talk with Panday to "save" UNC

UNC leadership candidate Ramesh Lawrence-Maharaj is willing to talk with political leader Basdeo Panday to save the party from those "waiting to gobble it up".

He told the Trinidad Express he has evidence that people are trying to destroy the UNC.

But Panday appears indifferent to Maharaj's suggestions and concerns. He told the paper Maharaj knows how to contact him if he wants to talk.

Maharaj told supporters earlier this week he has "strong and cogent evidence to prove that certain people in other political parties want to destabilise the UNC by controlling the leadership and taking over the party".

He added, "I always defended the constitution and founding principles of the UNC, and whatever it takes to do it again I will do it to save the party. If that means meeting and talking with Mr Panday, I will do it...my defence of the party is not conditional."
