A report in the Trinidad Express Thursday said the Commission of Enquiry into the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDeCOTT) and the construction sector is due to resume hearings on December 2.
The report is based on a directive sent by commission chairman Prof John Uff that allows the hearings to resume. Based on the arrangement worked out with UDeCOTT the commission had to give advance notice of its intention to reopen the hearings.
The government has pledged to do all in its power to ensure that the commission completes its work.
The Joint Consultative Council (JCC) is eager for the probe to continue and had written to the commission asking it to take steps to restart the proceedings and to take steps to ensure that "Mrs Sherrine Hart is compelled to appear at such hearings and give sworn testimony".
She is the wife of UDeCOTT executive director Calder hart, who is one of the principal figures in the inquiry.
The JCC alleges that Mrs Hart's brother, Allen Lee, is a director of CH Development and Construction Pte Ltd, which has won lucrative contracts handed out by UDeCOTT.
The JCC wants the commission to summon Sherrine Lee Hart to answer questions as to whether she is in any way related to Ng Chin Poh or Lee Hup Ming.
Mrs Hart's former husband, Carl Khan, gave sworn evidence that Lee Hup Ming is the same person as Allen Lee Hup Ming, the brother of Sherrine Lee Hart.
