The Congress of the People (COP) has organized a big rally for Woodford Square Port of Spain to protest the government's new tax on residential and other properties.
UNC deputy leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar was scheduled to address the rally along with Mayaro MP Winston Gypsy Peters, Comedian Sprangalang, National Foodcrop Farmers Association member Norris Deonarine, Tobago opposition leader Ashworth Jack and others are scheduled to address the rally.
But Persad-Bissessar backed out after her leader said the UNC national executive had not discussed the matter of her attendance. She wrote COP organizer Prakash Ramadhar saying he had to withdraw because of COP's "vicious attacks" on opposition leader Basdeo Panday.
