The charges stem from a brutal cutlass attack on British couple Peter and Murium Greene in Tobago two Saturdays ago. Police say he has confessed to the crimes.
Alexis was charged on Friday after a team of detectives from Trinidad interviewed him.
The couple suffered severe chop wounds following the attack outside their home in Bacolet on August 1 and had to be airlifted to Trinidad for treatment at the Mount Hope hospital. Peter Greene is in a medically induced coma; his wife's condition is reported as stable.
Following the attacks the British Foreign and Commonwealth office issued a travel advisory warning citizens about the risk of being attacked by criminals if they visited Trinidad and Tobago and pointed in particular to Tobago.

Tourism officials are worried that this latest development would have a negative impact on their industry, which is still suffering a serious blow from the international financial crisis.
