Jack Warner wrote United National Congress (UNC) General Secretary Fazal Karim Tuesday in response to a letter that Karim sent to Warner last month asking the Chaguanas West MP to account for money he collected on behalf of the party prior to the 2007 general election.
Warner asked Karim to make sure that his letter is read at the weekly caucus of the UNC Wednesday at Rienzi complex.
The UNC has repeatedly alleged that Warner has failed to account for monies received on behalf of the party but has given no specific details or presented any evidence to support its claim.
In his letter dated July 14 to Karim about the allegations and demand for an account Warner said, "I will not bring myself to such lowered standards by responding to such frivolous and unsubstantiated allegations."
He added, "I await from you evidence you have of monies I have received on behalf of the United National Congress."
Warner was one of the largest financial backers of the UNC for years and has spent millions of dollars of his own funds on the party's election campaigns since 2000. However UNC Leader Basdeo Panday has denied that Warner is a financier of his party.
