Bring the evidence! That’s the call from Deputy Political Leader of the United National Congress, Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan to former Attorney General Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj who claimed that the Government is putting taxpayers’ monies towards the party's election fund.
Speaking at a forum in Claxton Bay entitled 'National Governance Crisis' which was held to discuss issues affecting the country, including crime and corruption, Mr. Maharaj accused the Government of using State money to deposit in the UNC’s election fund for next year's General Elections.
He went further to say that he understood some Government Minister's wives had established companies to receive Government contracts.
However in immediate response, Dr. Rambachan dismissed the claims and challenged Mr. Maharaj to bring the evidence to support his claims.
