File: Curtis Wilson |
Today, January 8, as friends gathered for the final rites for Bissondath "Ram" Rampersad we learned of the passing of another ttt colleague, Curtis Wilson.
Curtis started his career at ttt where he learned the art of television production, which he took with him when he migrated to the country's second television station, CCNTV6.
Curtis learned quickly and was a meticulous and highly skilled television professional. You could rely on him to get any task done with finesse without the need for supervision. Outside the world of television he was a true gentleman and a friend.
Like Ram, I am saddened to learn of his passing. But I also accept that life is a continuing journey in which birth and death are mere markers.
Curtis and Ram now embark on a stage of the journey where we won't be with them ... but they are free from the obligations and stresses of mortality as their souls move forward on the journey to be reunited with the Creator.
We need to take comfort from the text of the Bhagwadgita: "...the soul is invisible, inconceivable and immutable. Knowing this, you should not grieve for the body."
Instead, let us celebrate the lives of Curtis and Ram and cherish the memories they left behind.
