Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has sent a congrtaulatory letter to Deodat Maharaj, a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, on his appointment to a senior position at the Commonwealth.
The letter, dated 23 December 2013, is reproduced below:
Dear Mr. Deodat Maharaj,
I have the distinct pleasure in extending my congratulations to you on your appointment to the distinguished post of Deputy Secretary-General for Development and Social Affairs of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
This is not only a commendable feat but an historic and profound moment for Trinidad and Tobago as you are the first of our citizens to hold this esteemed position.
