Chaguanas councillor Faaiq Mohammed, the expelled political rookie, has begun legal action against his erstwhile leader and political veteran, Jack Warner.
Mohammed, a 25-year-old student of international relations at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, is calling for an apology from Warner for alleged defamatory statements made by the ILP interim leader.
Mohammed, who is new to the political scene, is calling for an “unqualified apology” from Warner on terms agreed by senior counsel.
He also wants an undertaking from Warner that he would not repeat the allegations he made against him. Mohammed also wants payment of a sum in damages “to demonstrate the baselessness of the allegations and to compensate Mohammed for the injury to his reputation and distress caused by Warner’s statements”.
