Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar told reporters Wednesday night she plans to make some changes to her cabinet in two weeks ahead of the reconvening of Parliament.
Persad-Bissessar noted that when Jack Warner left cabinet she made a temporary arrangement to hand two ministries to Suruj Rambachan - Works and Local Government. She said the plan is to separate them and put in place other changes as well.
The day before, she announced that local government elections would be held before the end of October. The most likely date for the election is October 21.
This would be the third cabinet shuffle since the People's Partnership government took office in May 2010.
She made the disclosure when she spoke with the media following a function at the at the Rienzi Complex, Couva headquarters of her United National Congress. She said the realignment would be to ensure better delivery of services.

She told the media there is room for improvement and based on "our recent experiences talking with the MPs and constituents. I do believe we can realign in a way that can help us to improve".
