Obama nominates T&T born former marine as US Ambassador to POS

President Barack Obama has nominated a former marine as the new U.S. Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago.

John Estrada was born in Laventille, Trinidad and emigrated to the United States when he was 14.

He served in the Marine Corps until April 25, 2007 when he stepped down after 34 years of service.

Estrada replaces former Ambassador Beatrice W. Welters, who resigned last October ahead of the US Presidential election, which was held November 5.
