Jack Warner has written to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, complaining to Amrodeen Ali that the office of Chaguanas Councillor Orlando Nagessar located at Cacandee Road, Felicity is being used for political activities.
In his letter, the interim leader of the Independent Liberal Party (ILP) stated that it is his understanding that rules governing the offices of local government representatives prohibit the use for partisan political activities such as electioneering.
Warner said Nagessar’s office has been converted to and is currently being used as the political office for the UNC bye-election campaign. He said persons who are not supporters of the UNC are not getting service from the councillor's office.
He said this is a breach of the approved use of the councillor’s office and "is a fraudulent conversion of the resources allocated by the Ministry of Local Government for the service of the burgesses of the electoral district".
He added, "I therefore bring this unfortunate issue to your attention for your appropriate action."
