That meeting just five days ahead of the opposition no confidence motion in Parliament has sparked a national controversy with calls the resignation of both Rowley and Gordon.
The Prime Minister has stated that it was linked to a "nefarious plot" against her government. "My sisters and brothers, this matter of a secret meeting is not to be taken lightly. It strikes at the very heart of our system of governance and the independence of our institutions in this country," she said at a political meeting in Felicity on Monday night.
JYOTI has confirmed that the Prime Minister has written to the President outlining her concerns about the matter. However the Office of the Prime Minister has noted that correspondence between the two leaders are private and confidential so the PM would not reveal details of the letter to Carmona.
The President and the PM hol;d regular meetings so it is not certain that the matter of Rowley and Gordon would be on their agenda when they meet.
Newsday said it understands that the Office of the President has scheduled the meeting in the President’s diary "and a key issue at the meeting will be the Prime Minister’s letter sent to the President over the weekend calling on Carmona to take such action as he sees fit in relation to the disclosure of a secret meeting between Gordon and Rowley on May 15."
