The Senate on Wednesday continues its debate on legislation designed to give soldiers police powers, including the authority to make arrests.
At the start of debate Tuesday Senate Vice President Lyndira Oudit urged members to comply with the Standing Orders to allow the nine Independent and Opposition senators to speak.
“I do ask for your conscious, deliberate and consistent adherence to these provisions which will ensure smooth deliberations on this important piece of legislation,” Oudit said before putting the bill to debate.
