A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS it is provided by section 1(2) of the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Act, 2011 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act�) that the Act shall come into operation on such date as is fixed by the President by Proclamation:
And whereas it is expedient that sections 1, 2, 3(1), 32, 34 and Schedule 6 of the Act come into operation on the 31st day August, 2012:
And whereas it is expedient that sections 3(2), 3(3), 4 to 31, 33, 35 and Schedules 1 to 5, 7 and 8 of the Act come into operation on the 2nd day of January, 2013:
Now, therefore, I, GEORGE MAXWELL RICHARDS, President as aforesaid, do hereby appoint the 31st day of August, 2012, as the date on which sections 1, 2, 3(1), 32, 34 and Schedule 6 of the Act come into operation and the 2nd day of January, 2013, as the date on which sections 3(2), 3(3), 4 to 31, 33, 35 and Schedules 1 to 5, 7 and 8 of the Act come into operation.
Given under my Hand and the Seal of the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, at the Office of the President, St. Ann’s, this 28th day of August, 2012.
