Warner was speaking at the post-cabinet news briefing. He said the government will undertake the project in two phases. The state-owned TSTT will handle the first phase through an existing arranegement the government has with the company.
That is through a sole-source contract. However the minister said the next phase would be through Request for Proposal (RFP) tendering to give other companies an opportunity to bid for the work.
The 500 cameras would assist in overall national security. The cost of maintaining the cameras will be $60 million annually, he stated.
