The People's National Movement said Sunday, "The West Indies cricket team's victory of the World Twenty 20 finals in Sri Lanka today has lifted the spirits, hopes and aspiration of all Caribbean people."
In a media release from the party's general secretary, Ashton Forde, the party said it joins the national community and the entire Caribbean in extending sincere congratulations to our cricketers on achieving their first world title in eight years.
"The all round performance of the team in the finals was an outstanding display of professionalism that would undoubtedly be recorded as one of the most significant achievements in the history of West Indies cricket," the party said.
"It will also serve as inspiration to all our young sportsmen and women in the future. The victory today is even more significant because it comes on the heels of the outstanding achievements of the Caribbean athletes at the recently concluded London Olympics 2012.
"On behalf of the Political Leader of the People's National Movement, Dr. Keith Rowley, Chairman, and members of the party, we salute our players on this glorious day of winning a prestigious world title."
