Stephen's father thinks only prayer can save T&T from crime

Augustine Williams, the father of Stephen Williams, thinks now is a bad time for his son to be taking over as acting Commissioner of Police (CoP).

He does not share his son's view that crime is not as bad as it seems and does not think anyone can eradicate crime. “It’s a bad time," he told the Sunday Guardian. "We are in the centre of the crime wave. When you hear as much as five murders in a day it is frightening. We are in a hot spot of crime,” said Augustine.

The elder Williams, who will be 90 in a few days, said the only thing that can save the country now is prayer.
