CG Nan Ramgoolam with Brooklyn President Marty Markowitz |
It happened at Wingate Park, Brooklyn NY, during the Martin Luther King Jr. Summer Series Concerts.
T&T Consul General Rudrawatee Nan Ramgoolam was present to receive the proclamation on behalf of the government and people of Trinidad and Tobago.
Markowitz, a popular figure among the Caribbean nationals in Brooklyn for decades is fond of claiming in jest that he is a “Trinidadian from Tunapuna”, expressed his appreciation for the attendance of Counsels General Ramgoolam, Herman LaMont from Jamaica, and Lennox Price from Barbados.
The Concert that night featured the Mighty Sparrow, and Bunji Garlin and Asylum. The “Birdie” whose voice and laugh were as strong as ever, treated the crowd to the old favourites “Congo Man” and “Jean and Dinah.”
