The Minister of the People and Social Development made the pledge when he met with people from the areas who have been affected by last weekend's floods. Ramadharsingh promised to set up Strategic Social Impact Centres where citizens can report their issues and get much needed help.
He said the ministry is setting up the centres in a number of locations in Diego Martin. They will remain open until Friday August 24.
The minister said Government is committed to help those who have been affected by the damaging floods.
"If you lost your clothes, for every child you will get $1000 to get you back those clothes. For those who lost their appliances and furniture in the rain and mud, you can get up to $10,000 to replace that," he said.
"For those whose homes need repairing in this emergency, up to $20,000 for the home repair grant. For those who lost their business, you can get back a $5,000 grant to get back your business on the road," he added.
