Ernesto poses minimal threat to Jamaica

Tropical storm Ernesto is still a threat to Jamaica as 50th anniversary independence celebrations reach a climax on the island. However the threat is minimal.

A Tropical Storm warning is in effect for:
  • Jamaica
  • Grand Cayman
  • The Coast of Honduras from the border with Nicaragua
This means that tropical storm conditions are expected in these areas within the next several hours. 

The centre of the storm is currently located near Latitude 15.2 north, which is south, southwest of Jamaica. It's movement is at 37 KP/H.

The centre of the storm is expected to pass to the south of Jamaica and move to Honduras by Monday night with winds of up to 85 km/h. Heavy rainfall of up to six inches is forecast for the locations under a storm watch.
