UNC chairman says the country is poorer with the loss of Kelvin Ramnath

Kelvin Ramnath in Parliament
Today the country is poorer, much poorer because of the loss of Kelvin Ramnath, one of its celebrated sons.

Trinidad and Tobago has been robbed of his experience especially on the political landscape, his oratory which was a delight to listen to as he debated on national issues during the Panday-led UNC and his infectious smile and laughter which was indicative of his sense of humour when he was not in deep cogitation on more serious matters facing the country.

Those of us who had the privilege of knowing Kelvin as a friend and brother will remember his passion to ensure that justice is guaranteed for all in Trinidad and Tobago. He was driven by the passion of equality for all and represented the antithesis of an unfair society.

Today the United National Congress is strong because Kelvin was among its many forefathers who ensured that the values and morals upon which this party was built made the UNC today the attractive and only option for governance in Trinidad and Tobago.

Today, the people of Trinidad and Tobago mourn the passing of Kelvin Ramnath but the children of the United National Congress, especially, are saddened by the void he leaves, which may take generations to fill. He was a true patriot, committed to nation building and the eradication of poverty from among us.

On behalf of the Children of the Rising Sun, I wish to extend condolences to his wife Debbie and to assure you my friend that as a party and as the Chairman of this glorious party which your husband assisted in building, we will always be there for you.

Goodbye Kelvin, Goodbye my brother, Goodbye my true friend.

Jack Warner | Chairman, United National Congress
