The Prime Minister said she is “more concerned with how Shaquille O’Neal’s presence uplifted the spirits of the communities we visited than I am with the protocol displayed on the day.” She added: “Ask the residents of these communities whether they are concerned about the protocol of the gesture or the intent of the programme.”
Persad-Bissessar stated that people should not get carried away by the spontaneous event. “I would trade a hundred breaches of personal protocol to prevent a single breach of law that claims another life of a son or daughter of our soil,” she said.
