Letter: Memo to Faris Al-Rawi - Yes the government can direct the police

Memo to PNM Senator Faris Al-Rawi :

YES the government is the government. So it can change policy at any time and direct the relevant authorities to conform and follow instructions.

In today’s (Wednesday, 18th July) issue of the Trinidad Guardian, PNM Senator Faris Al-Rawi is quoted as saying “Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs is in full control of the Police Service and therefore National Security Minister Jack Warner cannot insist that the top cop reopen police stations.”

Al-Rawi is just dancing around with his crap. The PNM is showing every day that it really has nothing to contribute.

If crime is so out of control they should be supporting the minister in any initiative to fight back... but they can't. That's why Jerry Narace once said to Patrick Manning he must back away from fighting crime because "we cannot launch war on our own people.”

The PNM has never shown any inclination to serious attack crime. Now that the this Government has decided to launch an all out onslaught on those who are hell-bent on creating havoc in the country, we have the PNM with excellent support from some media and anti-government activists posing as labour leaders, along with their environmental sidekicks, continuing to agitate and stir up discontent within the national community against this performing Government.

What has happened over the last year? I am convinced that there is a familiar ring about the sudden upsurge in crime and one might be tempted to question how this has evolved over the last month. Does it have any political control/planning/ influence? It is all a well orchestrated plan to attempt to destabilize the security of the Government and the country.

This is not about mother Trinidad and Tobago; this is all about their lust for political power and control! The sad reality is that these very people want Jack Warner and the PP Gov’t to fail with any of their crime fighting initiatives, for obvious reasons. It all comes back to politics. In their own little minds, T&T is PNM country even if they are not in power.

Just over a year ago, I wrote:

“There comes a time when we must go on the offensive rather than continue to take the defensive role. Now is that time for us to use our professional communications/information specialists to begin to use their collective wealth of experience as a form of “mass destruction” against those who are plotting to destabilize the Government.

"Everything this Government decides to do, every appointment it makes, is being objected to or scrutinized to the fullest by the PNM, the Express, those who cannot manipulate the Administration, those who claim to be our supporters but have latched on to the daily negative rhetoric because they cannot get their selfish agendas ahead of the national agenda.”
The time for persuasive, diplomatic language is over; desperate times require/demand drastic and firm action. We must never allow the security of our citizens and country to be held ransom, especially by those who are paid to protect us.

Let us bring out all the pens, all the ads, all the bloggers, all the internet campaigners who can do what is needed, and begin the PP onslaught; enough is enough and we cannot allow those elements who continue to attempt to destabilize the Government any longer. Unfortunately, it now comes down to “either you are with us or against us!”

We are in Government; we can deal with it...”
