Speaking on national television Wednesday, Guiseppe said the MSJ was acting in an "individualistic" manner. He also said he doesn't think the MSJ will make any significant impact as a labour party since it doesn't represent the views of the population.
"The MSJ is supposedly to be representing labour and that's a next thing that I am concerned with. How many unions are registered in the MSJ? There are 24 real active unions. The largest unions are not registered in the MSJ," he said.
He also slammed the MSJ for not working out differences though consultation and negotiations and suggested that the party should have remained in government where it could have influenced labour legislation.
"The only time to be strong is when the laws are backing you up. When you have the laws, and they can't get that in their head," he said. "Most of the time you are arguing for things at the bottom. You have to make sure the stratification of this community, especially the labour community, and labour holds a real legalistic power," he added.
The Trinidad & Tobago Unified Teachers' Association (TTUTA) has distanced itself from the MSJ, saying it does not want to part of any political organisation.
