Jack gets National Security; Howai gets Finance, Dookeran moves to Foreign Affairs

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced major changes to her cabinet Friday, moving Jack Warner from Works and Infrastructure to National Security and handed Warner's former Portfolio to Emmanuel George, who was minister of Public Utilities. 

The new Public Utilities Minister is Nizam Baksh. Winston Peters takes over Community Development from Baksh. The Arts and Multicultural Ministry will be headed by Lincoln Douglas.

Winston Dookeran has moved to Foreign Affairs and newcomer Larry Howai will be the new Finance Minister with special responsibility for Caribbean Airlines. Ganga Singh is also in the new cabinet as Minister of Environment and Water Resources.


Suruj Rambachan, who held the post of Minister of Communication and Foreign Affairs, has replaced Chandresh Sharma in Local Government and Sharma takes over the Transport Ministry from Devant Maharaj, who is the new Food Production Minister. There is also a new ministry of National Diversity and Social Integration, headed by Clifton De Coteau.

Stephen Cadiz has moved from Trade to Tourism and Rupert Griffith will be the Minister of Science and Technology, which is a new ministry. Vasant Bharath takes over the Trade portfolio.

Persad-Bissessar also appointed a new Tobago Development Minister, Dr Delmon Baker. She moved Vernella Alleyne-Toppin to the People Ministry as a junior minister.

She also brought Marlene Coudray into cabinet as Minister of Gender Youth and Child Development. And Jamal Mohammed is the new Communications Minister. 

Several ministers have kept their portfolios including Roodal Moonilal, Tim Gopeesingh, Anand Ramlogan, Prakash Ramadhar, Herbert Volney, Errol McLeod, Glenn Ramadharsingh, Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan, Kevin Ramnarine, Fazal Karim, Anil Roberts, Bhoe Tewarie.

Karim's ministry has been reduced to Tertiary Education alone and Environment is no longer part of Moonilal's ministry. The full list is:
