Colm Imbert |
The former Works Minister told the House: "I'm leaving; I can't take these untruths."
Imbert was referring to the contribution of Works Minister Jack Warner who was responding to a matter brought by Imbert. The MP for Diego Martin North-East had criticised Warner for what he said was the minister's poor record of dealing with infrastructure works.
He said the Maraval River and other watercourses need to be dredged, pointing out that at the present time many people in the area face the possibility of severe flooding.
Warner noted that Imbert was no longer the Works Minister and stated that his record of representation has been poor. Imbert retorted that Warner was out of line and not dealing with the matter before the House. Mark advised Warner to stick to the debate.
As Warner continue, Imbert displayed photographs to illustrate his point. The Speaker told the MP to put away the pictures but Imbert refused. At that point Mark said, "I feel you want to leave early."
When Imbert persisted in showing the pictures Mark asked him to leave the Chamber. Last week another opposition MP - Paula Gopee-Scoon - was asked to leave the House for ignoring the Speaker and engaging in repeated cross-talk.
