Ambassador Eden Charles gets his Instruments of Appointment from PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar at the UN in New York |
She made the presentation at the United Nations following her participation in a debate on the State of the World Economy after which she met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Anthony Lake, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Persad-Bissessar acknowledged the contribution that Charles has made to international law at the UN, his appointment as lead negotiator for CARICOM on Arms Trade Treaty, and his years of exemplary service to Trinidad and Tobago as a career diplomat in the Foreign Service.
She stressed that she had worked with him and witnessed his dedication to duty, his intellect and professionalism. She added that his appointment bore testimony to the fact that diligence and professionalism will always be rewarded.
Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Rodney Charles, supported the Prime Minister’s statements and indicated that it is a pleasure working with Charles in the service of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
