Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar returned home Tuesday from Barbados where she was admitted to hospital Monday for tests. Acting PM Jack Warner greeted her at Piarco airport on her arrival.
Persad-Bissessar was on a week-long overseas visit that started in Belize where she attended Commonwealth meetings. She then went to New York for meetings at the United Nations and ended the official trip with a stop in Barbados for a Caricom-Mexico summit. She fell ill after attending the summit was was taken to hospital.
Immediately after her return home Persad-Bissessar left for her private residence in south Trinidad.
Communications Minister Suruj Rambachan told reporters, "The Prime Minister is overworked and unfortunately she has not been taking care of herself as she should."
Rambachan said Persad-Bissessar would address matters involving the MSJ at the second anniversary rally Thursday at Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas.

He said the Prime Minister remains committed to "improving the quality of life for all the people of T&T and she is working beyond the call of duty to ensure this." He added that she is putting country before self at the expense of her health.
