For the first time in 98 years the community of Union Village, Mayaro has a pipe-borne water supply with the installation of Naparima Mayaro Road, Union/Agostini Village Pipeline Project.

“This is an occasion to celebrate. Celebrate—a word that seems to be giving some people some anxiety,” acting Prime Minister Jack Warner told members of the community at the commissioning ceremony Friday.

He also spoke of the distribution of lands to Caroni workers for the first time in eight years and the allocation of an HDC house to Victor Dell, 74, after waiting 45 years. “Isn’t that cause to celebrate? Don’t they have cause to celebrate? Do not let anybody misguide you.

"Your celebration began on May 24, 2010, and everyday you get up and you open your eyes you celebrate twice, once to God for giving you life and two for the Government that you have because if that were not the case, then the waterline that you have here would not be possible,” Warner said.

He said when one looked at the work being done throughout the country, “you will see how lucky we are. But this is a country of critics we tend to always be critical of the efforts of others. We believe that we have all the answers we do not believe ever that we should collaborate in a way that would make this country better.”

Warner said the country was blessed in terms of the leadership. “So let not your heart be troubled by what you are enjoying this morning. It is cause for celebration and that is why my plea to you this morning, all of you here, is to come to Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas, where the real celebrations starts. It is a celebration of May 24, 2010,” he said.
