Much to celebrate after two years in office: Warner

Acting Prime Minister Jack Warner said on Friday he disagrees with the political leader of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) that it is "an inappropriate time for the Partnership to have a celebratory rally at a time when there were so many crucial issues facing the country.”

David Abdulah made that comment in a media statement Thursday. And the chairman of the Congress of the People Joseph Toney has said he agrees with Abdulah.

However Warner disagrees with that position.

Speaking in Rio Claro where he formally commissioned a $9.6 million WASA pipeline installation project, the Chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) said, "I am in no way at all embarrassed to ask you today to celebrate, because there are those, those prophets of doom and gloom, who want you to believe you have no reason to celebrate.”

He added, "I believe we here in government we have a lot to celebrate. The people here have a lot to celebrate and we have not even touched the tip of the iceberg in terms of the reasons why they should celebrate."

Warner also commented on a statement that Abdulah's photo should not be in the ad for the May 24 rally since Abdulah had not confirmed that he will attend.

He said, "I approved the ad and all he has to do is write to me and tell me take off his photo and his logo and I will. He added, "He has not done that yet."
