Letter: Government in good hands

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar continues to indicate that all members of her Cabinet are committed to the concept of collective Cabinet responsibility and have reaffirmed their desire to work together to take the Government's agenda forward.

This was the original mandate set by the People's Partnership upon its winning the 2010 election—to remain committed to the overall vision and allegiance to the people of Trinidad and Tobago and set a pace of change to make the nation better.

Rumours of the dismissal of Prakash Ramadhar have been dismissed. The Prime Minister interrupted a Cabinet meeting to quickly brief the media on this issue.

"No minister has been fired, no minister will be fired, no minister has resigned and no minister has indicated any desire to resign... I understand that there have been rumours" circulating, she said, but that was not the intention of the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to assess the Government's two years in office and make plans for the third year, as the Prime Minister understands the need to make even a stronger and greater impact where the Government is concerned.

The Prime Minister also stated her coalition remains very strong, adding that coalitions are the way to go.

She said the future of politics would be about coalitions and general consensus.

The Government is in good shape, firmly in charge and capable of handling matters of State and of governance.
