The event marks the second anniversary of the People’s Partnership’s victory in the general election.
Housing and the Environment Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal told local media, “We will report to the nation on our delivery, challenges and our policy for confronting the social and economic problems that we face.”
He said the PP would also launch a media advertising campaign to report in a "bold and dramatic manner" on its many achievements during its first two years.
Moonilal said the PP embarked on "a great adventure in democracy and governance" on May 24, 2010, adding that since then Persad-Bissessar had led the five-party coalition Government "in the most admirable manner.”
He said despite the many challenges “we have been able to proceed, we have been able to sail on and the Government is now stronger than ever.”
Moonilal explained that in such a political arrangement there would be from time to time public policy debates in the Government and "you’ll have tensions as you develop Trinidad and Tobago.”
He explained that this is an essential part of development. “There can be no development without conflict, and there are tensions at times between local issues and national policy.”
Moonilal said differences of opinion are part and parcel of coalition politics "and Mrs Persad-Bissessar has emerged as a historic figure managing a five-party coalition.
The deputy leader of the United National Congress (UNC) said the celebration rally would also feature addresses by the leaders of the PP and performances by local and international artistes. The theme of the celebration is: "Accounting to the People, Reporting to the Nation."
