Trinidad & Tobago has seen a significant drop in the national unemployment rate.
The latest Labour Force Bulletin released by the Central Statistical Office (CSO) Thursday said the unemployment rate fell to 5.2 per cent in the third quarter, 2011, a decrease of 0.6 percentage points. It was 5.8 per cent in the second quarter of last year.
The CSO said the information is based on data collected in the continuous sample survey of population conducted between July-September 2011.
According to the official records, the labour force of Trinidad and Tobago was 609,500 in the third quarter of 2011 registered people. That means the economy added 11,300 jobs since the third quarter of 2010.
