Manning's leave extended to July 24

File: Manning leaves for the U.S. for medical treatment
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Wade Mark, announced on Wednesday that he has granted San Fernando East MP Patrick Manning medical leave until July 24.

Manning's initial leave of absence expired Wednesday.

The former prime minister suffered a stroke on January 27 and has been undergoing treatment in the United States.

The government has paid for Manning's medical expenses. However Health Minister Dr. Fuad Khan was unable to say if Manning is seeking additional aid.

He said if such a request has been made if would be granted."We would certainly give it to him. And we would make sure he gets the best treatment available," Khan said.
