Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar stopped to greet supporters Friday before heading into Parliament for her encounter with Opposition Leader Keith Rowley to debate a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister that Rowley brought before the legislature.
She promised that she and her team will "vanquish" the leader of the People's National Movement (PNM), noting that her government was “fully armed, prepared and ready to fire” for the debate.
“Certainly the numbers will defeat the motion. I have no doubt that at the end of it, he will be vanquished," she said.
She said she was encouraged by the tremendous support shown from citizens. "We are very heartened by that support and it is always important for a government to keep its feet on the ground and these few days have allowed us to go back and touch base with our supporters," she told reporters
She said that momentum would take government and its supporters to the second anniversary of the People’s Partnership on May 24.
“I expect that the May 24 rally to be the largest ever we have seen,” she predcited.
