Kalicharan takes top mas title in south, 18th career win

Ivan Kalicharan's "We Going Carnival" has won the Large Band of the Year title in South Trinidad. It's his sixth consecutive victory and the 18th in his career.

Second place went to We People International's portrayal of "Down The Nile". Lionel Jagessar's "Festival Nation" placed third.

In the medium category the first place went to "Sun Dancers" by Southern Mas Associates. The winner in the Small Band category was Pan Mas Tradition's "Oceanic Wilderness".

Gloria Dallsingh's "Queen of the Masquerade Ball" was named Female Masquerader of the Year; Fernando Marchan's "Pianky-Nubiah Conqueror of Egypt" won the male title.

The Junior Sammy Group of Companies Skiffle Bunch Steel Orchestra won the steelband competition.
