TT government sends condolences on death of Afzal Khan

Official statement from Dr ROODAL MOONILAL on the death of Afzal Khan:

"The Government of Trinidad and Tobago notes, with deep sympathy, the passing of long-serving journalist Afzal Khan.

"Mr. Khan's death has robbed the media community - and, indeed, the entire society - of an experienced, skilled and most knowledgeable practitioner, one who steadfastly served the industry for about three and a half decades.

"Among other significant postings, Mr. Khan served as Head of News and Current Affairs at TTT and at HCU Communications, where, in addition to excelling at his craft, he also mentored juniors.

"In recent months, he had competently served the country as Corporate Communications Manager of Tourism Development Corporation.

"Mr. Khan's death follows that of other important journalistic and literary figures of the early Independence era.

"The Government observes the need for documentation and promotion of the critical works of these pioneers. In that regard, note is made of the recent publication of a tome of Keith Smith's seminal articles.

"The Government extends sympathy to Mr. Khan's loved ones, to the TDC family and to the entire media fraternity."
