Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj has been given authorisation to prosecute a Penal woman accused of killing her husband.
Maharaj, a former attorney general, revealed his role to Justice Anthony Carmona in the San Fernando First Criminal Court Wednesday.
he is prosecuting Jassodra Jagmohan, 54, who is charged with killing her husband Jagindranand, 53. His body was found in a drain in Debe on June 25, 2007, one day after he was reported missing.
A San Fernando magistrate freed Jagmohan in 2010 following a preliminary inquiry. However the Director of Public Prosecutions subsequently issued instructions to re-arrest her and charge her with the murder.

Maharaj promised full disclosure in the matter, which was adjourned to March 13.
