Dookeran to act as PM as Kamla leaves for India State Visit

Finance Minister Winston Dookeran will act as Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago while Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is out of the country.

Persad-Bissessar leaves Monday for a State Visit to India (see story below).

Persad-Bissessar will meet India Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and other top Indian leaders, including the country's president. She will attend a State Banquet in her honour in New Delhi on Friday. 

The highlight of the visit will be her attendance as Chief Guest at the annual Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) event in Jaipur, which recognises non-resident Indians (NRIs) globally. The event runs from Saturday to Monday.

Persad-Bissessar is expected to return home on January 16.
