UNC Chairman NY message urges citizens to make T&T a better country

Fellow citizens,

As we embrace another New Year, let us resolve to intensify our individual and collective efforts to make our country a better place.

Somewhere along the line the watch-words of our nation seem to have become lost; Discipline, Production and Tolerance. So too has our motto of Together we Aspire, Together we Achieve.

We have seen in recent years, the upsurge of crime, delinquency, greed and, in some quarters, dependency. The product of this attitude is the social ills that are hampering our progress as a nation. Everything that causes us worry and pain as a people is rooted in a general deviation from this creed, even our economic challenges.

Renewal of the spirit of patriotism is crucial to the turn-around we crave, and it starts with each and every one of us.

In the upcoming year, we must work doubly hard to protect everything we cherish and to achieve our goals whether at the personal level, as a nation, as a government or as a political movement, whatever our persuasion.

The re-energizing of our country is a task that requires every hand on deck, working at their respective station. We must be forward-looking and focused, undaunted by narrow and minor distractions.

My friends, I wish each and every one of you a Happy and Prosperous 2012.

Jack Warner | Minister of Works and Infrastructure | MP for Chaguanas West
Chairman, UNC
