Police officer dies from injuries after car hits her on Solomon Hochoy highway

Police Constable Angie Beckles-Gordon died at the San Fernando General Hospital Thursday, hours after a vehicle struck her while she was on traffic duty the Solomon Hochoy Highway.

Investigators reported that at around 11 in the morning the officer was directing traffic on the north-bound carriageway of the Solomon Hochoy Highway.

The driver of an oncoming lost control of his car and the vehicle hit the officer and knocked down down an illuminated arrow signal and several road traffic warning cones. The driver suffered with minor injuries. 

Beckles-Gordon suffered a broken arm and internal injuries and was sent to hospital where she died a few hours later during surgery.

A 60 year old man is assisting police with enquiries.
