While the leader of the People's National Movement (PNM) is expressing doubts about the credibility of an assassination plot against the prime minister and members of her cabinet a top member of the party is saying the matter must be treated seriously.
Chief secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Orville London, said Friday the alleged assassination plot is a serious one, and no one should use this opportunity to get political mileage.
"Any threat to any prime minister—in fact, any threat to any citizen of this country—is something that every citizen must take seriously," London stressed.
London said the international exposure to the story is likely to reduce the number of tourists coming to the island. However he said the investigation of the serious plot must get the highest priority and should be resolved in the shortest possible time.
"If the life of the Prime Minister is under threat, then, of course, dealing with that has to take priority," London said.
