Letter: Two down, 1 to go

With the recent resignation of Eric St. Cyr and the dismissal of Clive Spencer it appears that the PNM fifth column has begun to collapse - and none too soon if T&T is ever to benefit from the platform promises of the PPG.

While the departure of those two disciples of the Balisier are to be warmly welcomed it is far from enough - and will so remain so long as the attempt by this ruling dispensation to stem criminal anarchy and bloodshed is stymied at every turn by none other than the DPP on the flimisiest of legal justifications

Spencer's dismissal and St Cyr's enforced resignation, while both to be welcomed in the name of national and social progress, are largely eclipsed by the single handed determination of Roger Gaspard to make a mockery of the SoE.

The stakes for a long suffering and terrified citizenry are simply too high to permit this highly placed disciple of the Balisier to continue splitting legal hairs to the benefit of criminals at the expense of their victims.

Similarly, in return for his generous stipend, what is the contribution of Selwyn Cudjoe to the efficient and equitable operation of our Central Bank?

Is he retained solely for his Afrocentric racial diatribe in the press? In such an event, how does the PPG justify to the taxpayer his retention in situ.

While welcoming as a cleansing of the Augean stables the two recent departures above can only be viewed as a case of 2 down, 2 to go-- and the sooner the better.

Cry the beloved country
