Letter: Lawyer in NP contract matter must stop fighting case in media

I am seeing a pattern with attorneys who have found themselves on the losing side of the politics and I must now wonder if the fights we see are legally or politically based.

The ongoing investigations at NP seem to have taken a deliberate turn into the realm of politics, aided and abetted by Martin George who has chosen to fight the CDS case in the newspapers and in the public, and not through legal methods as he wants us to believe.

At this point, it seems to matter little what the outcome of an investigation is because Martin George has taken the position of Judge in the public and has already ruled.

Why is it that every letter he has sent requesting action has been sent to the media before being sent to NP and the Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar and Minister of Energy, Carolyn Bachan?

Why is it that Mr George has taken to the radio to express views on the outcome of an investigation that is not yet made public? How is it that an attorney can operate in this fashion where it appears to be a deliberate attempt to politicise a legal matter? What is Martin George's agenda?

The Prime Minister has declared her hand and has honestly given an account of her friendship with the Gopauls.
The Minister of Energy has honourably recused herself from the investigation preferring not to raise any question of a conflict of interest even though she didn't have to.

But Martin George continues to do his best to taint the outcome by his public rantings. He doesn't want a legal outcome, he wants a political impact!
