UNC Chairman Jack Warner has slammed one of the leaders of the People's Partnership for comments he made at a meeting in San Fernando on Saturday.
Speaking at the founding congress of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ), NJAC leader Makandal Daaga said there is too much corruption in the country.
Daaga expressed solidarity with the others parties in the governing coalition. However he also spoke about his views on corruption. "In my 50-60 years, I have never heard so much corruption in my land as in the last few days."
Warner said Monday it seems Daaga was just looking for attention from the media.
"It is a free for all," Warner stated. "Everybody wants to get media attention and there are other ways to do that."
Warner said Monday it seems Daaga was just looking for attention from the media.
"It is a free for all," Warner stated. "Everybody wants to get media attention and there are other ways to do that."
He added, "You can get media attention by working hard. By doing things at a national level, by fixing box drains, bridges and roads. There are other ways of getting media attention. By doing what is good and right. You don't have to rush off and try to be a hero for all the wrong reasons."
Warner said when it comes to speaking out on national issues, there must be guidelines.
"I believe that Mr Daaga, if he felt so, should have sat with the other leaders in the coalition and discuss it with them.

"Rushing off to the media and embarrassing one of your colleagues, who was there as a leader, is not the way to do things. Everyone is rushing off to the media to get headlines and soundbites. I must say I am surprised at Makandal Daaga," the Works and Transport Minister said.
