ATLA says it has not yet received an application from REDjet to fly from T&T

The Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA) board said Tuesday it has not received an application from REDJet airline for consideration.

The ATLA board said in a media release the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA) has informed the board that it received an application from REDJet in accordance with the Civil Aviation Act Chapter 49:03 as amended by Act No. 17 of 2003.

The TTCAA is the local the organisation with responsibility for maintaining a safe civil aviation system

It is also responsible for issuing Foreign Air Operator Operations Specifications (FAOOS), which is a pre-requisite for the consideration of an application for a licence to operate a scheduled service, in accordance with Civil Aviation [(No. 10) Foreign Operator] Regulations Chapter 49:03, ATLA said.

"Given the above-mentioned facts, the ATLA Board took a decision at its first meeting on May 10th, 2011, that any application submitted for its consideration will be treated with urgency," ATLA said.

On Monday the Barbados-based discount airline appealed to politicians in Trinidad and Tobago to speed up its application for a service from Trinidad to other Caribbean destinations, which it hopes to begin by May 29, 2011.

It accused bureaucrats of trying to prevent competition for the national carrier, Caribbean Airlines.
